Prof. Peter Sander

Institute of Medical Microbiology (IMM), University of Zurich (www.imm.uzh.ch)

Studies of biology at University of Munster (Germany), PhD. in Microbiology. Post-doc  and habilitation at Hannover Medical School. I joined tuberculosis research in 1993, when WHO declared tuberculosis a global emergency. and moved to Zurich in 2001. Research projects of my group cover basic physiological (protein secretion in mycobacteria) but also translational aspects (vaccine and drug development). Sharing laboratory space with the National Reference Laboratory for Mycobacteria (NRLM) and the neighbourhood with other mycobacterial research groups at IMM enables intensive scientific exchange and access to valuable clinical samples.
